Brilliant book. Essential for the module.
Mary Larkin, emphasizes the importance of public health within todays contemporary society. Given the advancement of health care, the book explores public health and well-being from a life course perspective; acknowledging that the human race is living longer with chronic conditions and thus, acknowledges the importance of recognizing that individuals despite their age can benefit from effective health promotion and brief interventions.

This is a useful book to supplement the teaching to enable students to understand about health and Well being.
An excellent multi-discipline approach to the subject taken for each life-course stage. The book is set out in a very accessible format for under graduates with lots of side headings and comment boxes and advice for further study. The chapter overviews provide a quick reference point for students. Each chapter can be used to guide students to areas for individual study, provide homework tasks and make links between the various factors impacting on health and illness across and between different stages of the life-course. Definitely recommended reading for my students.

Not as useful as first thought for Sports courses, though will supplement evidence for units on health and wellbeing. More suited to Health and Social Care. Nice touch with the discussion boxes, definite use for this in lessons for deeper learning and assessment of understanding
An interesting book using life course perspectives to inform the care of older people.
A very well structured text providing a sound theoretical framework in which to consider occupation and participation in relation to health and well being across the life span. The discussion points provide a good basis for workshops and are useful to promote further discussion of the wider issues each chapter raises.

This would be an excellent teaching resource for Unit 4 of the BTEC Extended Diploma in Health Studies and I will be recommending it to the course co-ordinator for use by our lecturers.
