Dr. Helen Charlton is a senior lecturer in Leadership at the University of Northumbria in Newcastle and a program leader of the BA (Hons) Business Leadership and Management Practice degree apprenticeship. Her scope of professional practice developed in her work as a senior human resources (HR) manager within the context of the not-for-profit and arts sectors. She has taught Human Resource Management in both Further Education and Higher Education and additionally specializes in the development of Higher Education students’ academic and employability skills. She is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and chartered member of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development. She has completed a doctorate in education, researching the experiences of professional HR practitioners engaged in part-time study.
